This mouthwatering shot of seasonal lobster salad was almost a magazine cover star—but it didn’t quite make it. ⁠ ⁠ It's always disappointing when that happens, but eventually I realized that those changes are less about the quality of the photo and more about other considerations behind the scenes. Learning not to take those losses personally was an important part of becoming a professional photographer.
