As a kid I spent most of my summers in Gloucester Massachusetts. My great great grandfather built a small cottage on the beach by hand using wood from pallets he got from the factory he worked in.
On rainy days my grandmother would take us into town to see what the fishermen were up to. We’d watch them unloading their hauls from long trips out to sea and take in the sights and smells.
I think those early memories are a huge part of the reason that I’m a Boston food photographer now. I remember asking all sorts of questions about what they were doing and how it worked, and now I get to get those answers straight from the source!
That’s why I was so excited to shoot this lobster cover story for Edible Boston Magazine I got to spend the day retracing my steps across the docks and getting a behind the scenes look at a lobster fishing operation.
After my time on the docks I went back to the studio and worked with food stylist Catrine Kelty to create the cover image.
