As a magazine photographer based in Boston, I have the privilege of capturing portraits of people who are shaping industries and making an impact. Over the years, I have photographed chefs redefining the city’s restaurant scene, artists pushing creative boundaries, and politicians on the rise. However, it is rare that I have the opportunity to photograph someone whose work is creating real, tangible change in the world. That was definitely the case when I photographed attorney Josh Koskoff for Suffolk Alumni Magazine.
Koskoff’s story, as told by writer Michael Blanding in the magazine’s feature article, is one of resilience, purpose, and groundbreaking legal work. His dedication to justice has led him to take on seemingly impossible challenges—and win.
“When Koskoff filed suit against gunmaker Remington in 2014, the story he told in that case would result in a $73 million settlement for the victims’ family members. When shock radio host Alex Jones claimed those victims were actors perpetrating a hoax, Koskoff sued him too, winning stunning legal judgments of nearly $1.5 billion. It was the largest defamation verdict in U.S. history.”
Meeting Koskoff in person, I was struck by his quiet confidence and unwavering commitment to the people he represents. As a photographer, I strive to create images that tell a story. Some subjects make that task effortless simply by who they are and what they have accomplished. Josh Koskoff is one of those individuals. His work is a reminder that justice is not just an abstract concept—it is something that can be pursued, fought for, and, ultimately, won.
It was an honor to photograph him and to play a small role in sharing his story with the readers of Suffolk Alumni Magazine.
